Who Decides an Affiliate Closure or Reversed Commission

Every network has the same teams under different names. CJ calls its fraud team Network Quality. AvantLink runs its own Compliance Department. On impact.com and PartnerStack the brand itself reverses actions. Our people have sat on the other side of these reviews. Tap a bar to see what each team wants.

Commissions reversed

Reviewed by Transaction validation and action review

Typical grade: Moderate

What sets it off

  • Returns, cancellations, or duplicates
  • An advertiser audit of a traffic source
  • A term breach found after the sale

What they can prove

  • The reversed lines and dates
  • The program terms in force

What they infer

  • That the orders did not earn a commission

Our pathway

  1. 1Pull every reversed line
  2. 2Request the written basis
  3. 3Split valid orders from real errors
  4. 4File inquiries before the lock date
A reversal with no written basis is a reversal we can question.

  • Traffic that does not fit the brand
  • A review of the publisher list

What they can prove

  • The traffic sent to that program
  • The terms you accepted

What they infer

  • That the publisher does not fit the program

Our pathway

  1. 1Find the reason for the removal

What they infer

  • That the publisher ran the ads

Our pathway

What they infer

  • That the pattern is fraud

How Affiliate Networks Decide Whether to Reinstate You

A network doesn’t read your appeal on its own. It reads it against your whole publisher record: your standing on each network, the sources tied to your IDs, the commissions in question and every response you’ve sent before. We write yours to answer what the network is actually weighing.

!

Potentially how it looks. A fictitious reconstruction built from our research and quantified only from cases we have handled. It is not an affiliate network screen or tool. Names, IDs, and records are invented or redacted.

How an affiliate case escalates, rung by rung

1

Network compliance response

A written response to the finding through the network's compliance channel or, on Amazon Associates, the Closed Account Appeal.

Most cases turn on this first response, so it carries the full record.
2

Advertiser or brand direct

Letters to the program managers or brand teams that removed you or reversed commissions, written under their own terms.

Advertisers decide their programs. A clean record sent to the right person reopens many of them.
3

Commission reconciliation

A line by line ledger of earned, reversed, withheld and debited commissions, asking for the reason behind each one.

Run in parallel with the account case, because earned commissions are argued separately from the account.
4

Legal letter

When a complete record is ignored, an attorney-reviewed letter goes to the network or brand. We only use it when the case calls for it.

Used only after the appeal record is complete, so it rests on documents.
5

Pre-escalation notice

A formal notice asking for the reason behind a transaction, or for payment of earned commissions under the agreement.

We push for a resolution with the platform.

Struggling to get it back on your own?

Book a call and we’ll map out your next move. Or submit your case and we’ll go through every notice first.

Why the hard cases come here

We are the ones publishers come to when every other agency and law firm has already failed.

Most publishers find us after their responses were declined and another agency already tried. Every response stays on the record, so the next one has to be built differently. Our team has worked inside these platforms and knows what each review is measuring. That’s how we’ve resolved more than 10,000 cases.

How hard is your case

Moderate

One team, one fixable issue, on a clean account. One complete response with the fix already live.

Difficult

A compliance finding the network or advertiser can check against its terms. Full ad, placement and source exports, with the fix live before we respond.

Hell 1

A pattern across programs that a quality team reads as risk. Traffic and transaction records that show the pattern’s real cause.

Hell 2

Partner traffic under your ID that you didn’t control. A source map, the partner removed and new controls on record.

Hell 3

A claim of deliberate attribution theft, or one cause flagged by many teams. Technical proof of how your clicks fire, and one answer written for each team.

Hell 4

Commissions already earned or paid, pulled back across programs. A commission ledger worked alongside the account response.

Hell 5

A long record with paperwork gaps on top. Clean up the payee file first, then answer the finding.

Hell 6

No real path to a human reviewer left. We tell you before you pay.

Affiliate network questions

Affiliate Account Suspension FAQs

Don’t see your question? Send us your notice and we’ll answer it directly.

Why was my Amazon Associates account closed?

Amazon closes an Associates account when it finds a breach of the Operating Agreement or Program Policies, such as offline promotion, offering incentives for clicks, misleading product claims, unsolicited emails with Special Links or missing disclosures. Amazon can also end the agreement at any time with 7 days’ notice, or immediately for a material breach.

Why were my affiliate commissions reversed?

Affiliate commissions get reversed when the brand modifies or rejects the conversion before it locks. On impact.com, common reasons include item returned, consumer error and disputes over advertiser or partner activity, and brands usually give a reason. Once the locking date in your contract passes, the action can no longer change status.

How do I dispute a reversed affiliate commission?

You dispute a reversed commission by opening an inquiry with the network or contacting the brand directly. On impact.com, partners can file an action inquiry for an order not tracked, tracked incorrectly or incorrectly rejected, with the order ID, sale amount and date. Attach click and traffic records that show the sale was valid.

What happens to my unpaid commissions when an affiliate account is closed?

When an affiliate account is closed, unpaid commissions are often held. Amazon’s Associates agreement lets it hold accrued unpaid commissions for a reasonable period after termination to cover cancellations and returns, and commissions on disqualified purchases can be forfeited for violations. We fight to get it released where the earnings were valid.

When does an Amazon Associates sale earn a commission?

An Amazon Associates sale counts when the product is shipped and paid for within 180 days of the click for standard products, or within 89 days for items added to the cart during the visit. Other networks set their own windows in each brand’s contract terms. Check those terms before you dispute a missing commission.

Do I need an affiliate disclosure?

Yes, affiliate programs require you to follow disclosure laws, including the FTC Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising for US audiences. Amazon’s Program Policies require Associates to comply with those rules. Put a clear disclosure near your affiliate links, where readers see it before they click.

What is invalid traffic in affiliate marketing?

Invalid traffic in affiliate marketing is clicks or conversions that do not come from genuine customer interest, such as incentivized clicks, bot traffic, cookie stuffing or paid traffic sent in ways the program bans. Amazon, for example, bars offering any reward for using its Special Links. Keep traffic source records to prove your clicks are real.

How long does affiliate account reinstatement take?

Affiliate account reinstatement can take a few days for a clear mistake and several weeks when a network reviews traffic sources or commission history. The network or brand decides on its own timeline, and many respond only by email. Send one complete response with traffic data instead of several partial ones.

How do I keep my affiliate account from getting closed again?

You keep an affiliate account from getting closed again by following each program’s link rules, disclosing every affiliate link and watching where your traffic comes from. Avoid incentives, misleading claims and links in places the program bans, like unsolicited emails. Review the program policies often, since they change.

Is it worth hiring an affiliate account appeal service?

Hiring an affiliate appeal service makes sense when a network closed your account without a clear reason, large commissions were reversed or an earlier response was denied. A good service traces your traffic and conversions and answers the exact concern with real records. Start with a free assessment before you pay.

How much does an affiliate account reinstatement service cost?

The cost of affiliate account reinstatement depends on the network and how hard the case is. A single reversed batch takes less work than a closed account with an invalid traffic finding and unpaid commissions. We start with a free assessment, then quote a price based on the work your case needs.

Can anyone guarantee affiliate account reinstatement?

No. The network or brand makes the final decision, so no one can promise reinstatement or released commissions, and you should be careful with anyone who does. What we commit to is the work: we build your case on real traffic records and keep it moving. You also get a straight answer on your chances before you pay.
