How Rakuten handles it

How Rakuten Handles a Missing Stock Claim

RSL is a warehouse service run by JP Rakuten Logistics under a contract and published warehouse deposit terms. We couldn’t find a published automatic reimbursement program. A discrepancy is raised with the operator, and the first answer is often a recount.

So your claim has to hold up after a recount. It starts from the receipt status on the inbound schedule, names the Rakuten Fulfillment Center and nets out anything found on another shelf.

  • Receipt status first, then the story
  • Found units netted out before anything is raised
  • Supplier, carrier, or warehouse: the right party, once

Eight names sit under the sand, the ones that matter on an RSL account. Drag the rake through it and they come up, one line at a time.

What you get

Your Rakuten Month on One Slip, Line by Line

An omikuji tells a fortune. This slip doesn’t. Every line is counted from the records: what was scheduled, what arrived, what was raised, what was netted out after a recount and what was held back and why.

Rakuten RSL questions

Rakuten Fulfillment Reconciliation FAQs

Don’t see your question? Send us your RSL records and we’ll answer it directly.

What is Rakuten Super Logistics?

Rakuten Super Logistics, or RSL, is the fulfillment outsourcing service for merchants on Rakuten Ichiba in Japan. Merchants send stock to Rakuten’s fulfillment centers, and the service stores, packs, ships and handles returns for them. Every step changes the stock count and leaves a record you can check against your own paperwork.

Who runs Rakuten Super Logistics in Japan?

JP Rakuten Logistics runs the logistics operations behind Rakuten Super Logistics. It is a joint company Rakuten Group and Japan Post set up in 2021, with joint operations starting that July. Stock questions and discrepancies for RSL are raised through the route RSL gives merchants, under the terms JP Rakuten Logistics publishes.

Does Rakuten Super Logistics pay for lost stock?

Rakuten Super Logistics has no published automatic reimbursement program like some marketplaces. Liability for lost or damaged stock runs through your RSL service contract and the standard warehouse deposit terms JP Rakuten Logistics publishes. Each gap has to be raised and supported by your own records before anything is settled.

What are the JP Rakuten Logistics warehouse terms?

JP Rakuten Logistics publishes a Standard Warehouse Deposit Terms document, along with standard terms for truck and rail transport, on its company page. These terms set how stored goods are handled and how liability for loss or damage works. Read them alongside your RSL contract before raising any stock discrepancy.

How do I find missing stock in Rakuten Super Logistics?

Finding missing RSL stock means matching what you scheduled in, what the center received, what shipped and what came back, item by item. Gaps usually show up at receiving, in storage, in returns and in stock withdrawn or disposed of. Units that turn up on another shelf should come out of the claim.

How long do I have to raise an RSL stock discrepancy?

The window to raise a Rakuten Super Logistics discrepancy comes from your service contract and the warehouse deposit terms, and no single public deadline covers every case. Older gaps are harder to prove, so reconcile monthly and raise the oldest supported gaps first. Check your own contract for the exact notice period.

Why does the RSL count not match what I sent?

The RSL count can differ from what you sent because of short deliveries, receiving errors, items stored in the wrong place, returns not added back or damaged stock taken out. The first answer to a discrepancy is often a recount. Raise only gaps that still stand after the recount, with your delivery records attached.

What records do I need for a Rakuten logistics claim?

A Rakuten logistics claim needs your delivery schedule, the delivery note or packing list, carrier proof of delivery, supplier invoices for value and the RSL receiving and stock records for the same items. Each unit you claim should tie to a record. Never create or edit a document to fill a gap.

Is it worth hiring a Rakuten fulfillment reconciliation service?

A Rakuten fulfillment reconciliation service is worth it when you move enough volume through RSL that nobody checks every receipt, shipment and return by hand. We match the records month by month, take out units that turn up and raise only real gaps under your contract. Start with a free assessment of your stock records.

How much does Rakuten fulfillment reconciliation cost?

The cost of Rakuten fulfillment reconciliation depends on your item count, monthly volume and how many months need checking. We start with a free assessment, show you what looks recoverable under your contract and then quote the work. The price follows how much there is to reconcile and how hard the gaps are to prove.

Can anyone guarantee Rakuten will pay for missing stock?

No. The operator decides every discrepancy under your contract and the warehouse terms. Be careful with anyone who promises a payout. What we commit to is the work: every documented gap raised with the right records, found units taken out and a straight answer on what is worth raising before you pay.
