What we handle

Trademark, Copyright, Patent and Counterfeit Complaints

Most complaints trace back to listing content, an objection to unauthorized resellers or a mistaken match. Which one it is decides our response.

A trademark complaint moves through the marketplace. The fastest fix usually comes from the owner withdrawing it, so we work both sides at once.

    How the marketplace reads it

How the Marketplace Handles a Rights Owner Complaint

Marketplaces act on rights complaints fast and put the burden on the seller. Copyright has a counter-notice route under federal law. Trademark usually doesn’t, so the appeal and the retraction run through the marketplace’s own dispute process.

We test the claim against the right being asserted, your invoices and your listing content. Then we pick the path: a retraction from the rights owner, an appeal with proof of genuine goods or a counter-notice where it applies.

    Rights complaint questions

    Rights Owner Complaint FAQs

Don’t see your question? Send us your notice and we’ll answer it directly.

Why did I get an intellectual property complaint on Amazon?

Amazon sends an intellectual property complaint when a rights owner reports that your listing infringes a trademark, copyright or patent, or that your product is counterfeit. Amazon removes the listing and logs the complaint against your account. Read the notice for the IP type and complaint ID, because each type needs a different answer.

How do I get an IP complaint removed on Amazon?

An IP complaint on Amazon is cleared one of two ways. You can appeal or dispute the claim if you believe the rights owner or Amazon made an error, or the rights owner can retract it. A retraction usually means the rights owner emails Amazon at notice-dispute@amazon.com with the complaint reference.

Can I ask the rights owner to retract an IP complaint?

Yes. Asking the rights owner to retract an IP complaint is often the cleanest way to clear it, especially when your goods are genuine and bought from an authorized source. Keep the outreach polite, factual and in writing, with your invoices ready. On TikTok Shop, sellers can also contact the copyright owner directly to request a retraction.

What is a DMCA counter-notice and when can I use one?

A DMCA counter-notice is a written statement, made under penalty of perjury, that copyrighted material was removed by mistake or misidentification. It only applies to copyright claims. Trademark and counterfeit claims go through the marketplace’s own appeal. Under US law, the platform restores the material 10 to 14 business days after the counter-notice unless the rights owner takes legal action.

How do I appeal an IP violation on TikTok Shop?

TikTok Shop sellers appeal IP decisions in Seller Center within the stated deadlines, and can use corrections where available or a DMCA counter-notification for certain copyright removals. Rights owners file through the IP Protection Center. TikTok Shop says IP violations can lead to listing removal, account suspension and withheld funds, so answer quickly.

How do I respond to an IP claim on Walmart Marketplace?

Walmart removes items that break its intellectual property policy, and can take further action up to suspending the account. Answer the claim through Seller Center with proof you are allowed to sell the item, such as invoices from an authorized source or a license. A retraction from the rights owner can also clear it.

What proof do I need to fight a counterfeit complaint?

Fighting a counterfeit complaint usually takes supplier invoices from the brand or an authorized distributor that match the product and the quantities you sold, plus brand authorization where needed. Retail receipts and invoices from unknown wholesalers rarely hold up. Never create or edit a document to fill a gap, because a fake document ends the case.

Does deleting the listing make an IP complaint go away?

No. Deleting a listing does not remove the complaint from your Amazon account, as Amazon staff have confirmed in the Seller Forums. The complaint still counts toward account health, and several complaints can lead to suspension. Clear it through a retraction or a successful appeal so the record shows it was resolved.

What if the IP complaint against me is valid?

If the IP complaint is valid, remove or fix what infringes, whether that is the listing text, the images or the product itself, and stop selling the item until it is fixed. Arguing a valid claim makes the next complaint harder. Dealing with it honestly and early protects the rest of your catalog and your account.

Is it worth hiring help to clear a rights owner complaint?

Hiring help to clear a rights owner complaint is worth it when the listing earns real money, several complaints have stacked up or you think a brand is using complaints to push resellers out. We test the claim, work the retraction and the appeal at the same time and tell you if the claim is valid. Start with a free assessment.

How much does it cost to remove an IP complaint?

The cost to remove an IP complaint depends on the marketplace, the type of claim and how many complaints are open. A single trademark claim with clean invoices takes less work than several counterfeit claims from one brand. We start with a free assessment, tell you if there is a real path and then quote the work.

Can anyone guarantee an IP complaint will be removed?

No. The marketplace and the rights owner make the final call on every IP complaint. Be careful with anyone who promises removal. What we commit to is the work: a clear read of the claim, honest outreach to the rights owner, an appeal backed by real proof and a straight answer before you pay.
