Find the FBA Inventory Amazon Lost and File for Reimbursement

Fulfillment by Amazon loses units, damages stock, miscounts shipments and refunds returns that never come back. Most of it never gets claimed, because nobody reconciles the reports before the window closes. We do, line by line, and we only file what we can prove.

How Amazon reads it

Why FBA Reimbursements Aren’t Automatic

Amazon expects you to find the discrepancy and prove it, inside an eligibility window. File too many unsupported claims and the FBA reimbursement policy itself can get your account suspended.

So we reconcile your inventory and fee reports, size each gap by shipment and FNSKU, and file only documented, non-duplicate claims, with a reconciliation log behind every one.

  • Shipment and FNSKU level evidence
  • No duplicate or unsupported claims

FBA reimbursement questions

Amazon FBA Reimbursement FAQs

Don’t see your question? Send us your reports and we’ll answer it directly.

Does Amazon automatically reimburse lost FBA inventory?

Amazon automatically reimburses some lost and damaged FBA inventory, but many gaps never get paid unless the seller finds them and files a claim. Automatic credits can also come in below the unit’s value. That is why sellers reconcile their inventory, shipment and return reports and file what the records prove inside the window.

How long do I have to file an FBA reimbursement claim?

Amazon sellers in the US have 60 days to file most FBA reimbursement claims for fulfillment center losses and damage, under rules that took effect in October 2024. Customer return claims are filed between 60 and 120 days, and removal claims between 15 and 75 days. Every month you wait, older gaps fall out of reach.

How does Amazon calculate FBA reimbursement amounts?

Since March 31, 2025, Amazon reimburses FBA inventory lost or damaged before a customer orders it at the item’s manufacturing or sourcing cost instead of its selling price. If you leave the cost blank, Amazon estimates it, often lower than your real cost. Set your sourcing cost per SKU so reimbursements match what you paid.

How do I file an FBA reimbursement claim?

You file an FBA reimbursement claim in Seller Central, through the Inventory Defect and Reimbursement tools or a case with Selling Partner Support, depending on the claim type. Name the shipment, FNSKU and units, and attach proof such as your invoice, proof of delivery or the return record. One clean claim per gap works best.

What is an FBA shipment discrepancy?

An FBA shipment discrepancy happens when Amazon receives fewer units than your shipment says you sent. To claim it, you need proof of delivery, your supplier invoice and the packing list showing what left your door. If prep, labeling or carton content errors caused the shortfall, those units usually are not claimable, so check that first.

What happens when a customer return never comes back to FBA?

When Amazon refunds a customer and the return never comes back to the fulfillment center, the seller can claim reimbursement for that unit. In the US, customer return claims are filed between 60 and 120 days after the refund. Match your refunds against your returns report to find units that were refunded but never received.

Can filing too many FBA claims get my account suspended?

Filing too many unsupported or duplicate FBA claims can put an Amazon account at risk under the FBA reimbursement policy. Amazon expects each claim to be real and backed by records. That is why we file only documented, non-duplicate claims, once per gap. A smaller, clean claim is safer than a large batch of guesses.

Why is my FBA reimbursement lower than my selling price?

An FBA reimbursement is often lower than your selling price because Amazon now pays units lost or damaged before a customer order at manufacturing or sourcing cost. Units lost after a customer order keep their sale price valuation. A missing or outdated cost field can make the payout lower still, so keep it current.

Is an FBA reimbursement service worth it?

An FBA reimbursement service is worth it when you ship enough volume that nobody on your team reconciles every report each month. Missed gaps age out after 60 days, and bad claims can hurt the account. We reconcile line by line and file only what the records support. Send us your reports for a free assessment.

How much does an FBA reimbursement service cost?

The cost of an FBA reimbursement service depends on your volume and how many fulfillment centers and claim types are involved. A small catalog with clean records takes less work than years of mixed shipments. We start with a free assessment of your reports, then give you a price before any work begins.

Can anyone guarantee an Amazon FBA reimbursement?

No one can guarantee an Amazon FBA reimbursement, because Amazon decides every claim and the amount. Be careful with anyone who promises it. What we commit to is the work: every gap traced in your reports, every documented claim filed inside the window, and a straight answer on what is worth claiming before you pay.
