Find the WFS Units Walmart Lost and Dispute Them in Seller Center

Walmart Fulfillment Services receives, stores, moves and returns your units across its network. Units go missing at each of those steps, and most of it is never disputed because nobody sets the receipt next to the proof of delivery. We do, SKU by SKU, and we only dispute what the records support.

Six Ways WFS Inventory Goes Missing

Each one leaves a different trail in Seller Center. Knowing which trail to pull is most of the work.

How Walmart reads it

What Walmart Checks Before It Pays a WFS Claim

Before Walmart pays a WFS claim, it checks three things: whether the inventory was prepped and labeled properly, whether the loss happened while the units were under Walmart’s control, and whether the documentation shows both.

A claim that answers only one of those usually comes back. So we build the file the way the reviewer reads it: prep first, custody second, value third.

  • Prep and labeling shown before it is asked
  • Custody proven at the dock, not assumed
  • One dispute per discrepancy, never duplicated

A claim is a wall. It has to reach the line before Walmart will read it as their loss. Tap a brick or drag it onto the wall.

How we handle it

How We Reconcile WFS Inventory Every Month

Five steps, every month, so each discrepancy gets disputed while Walmart will still look at it.

Where we handle it

Where Units Disappear Inside the WFS Network

WFS moves stock between its own buildings to place it closer to customers. Those Material Transfer Requests are where units quietly disappear. Every other fulfillment network has its own page.

    WFS reimbursement questions

    Walmart WFS Reimbursement FAQs

Don’t see your question? Send us your WFS records and we’ll answer it directly.

Does Walmart reimburse lost WFS inventory?

Yes, when an investigation shows WFS lost or misplaced the inventory while it was in Walmart’s possession. Walmart then pays the estimated proceeds of the sale, based on the item’s average sales price, in the next payment cycle. If the investigation finds no conclusive evidence that WFS was responsible, Walmart does not reimburse.

How do I open a WFS inbound shortage investigation?

Open a WFS shortage investigation in Seller Center on the Shipping Plans page. Find the shipment, select View plan, open the Track items tab and choose Investigate shipment. Pick the item, add tracking, upload the required documents and submit. You can then track the case from the same tab.

How long do I have to file a WFS inbound claim?

Walmart lets you open a WFS inbound investigation between 10 and 50 days after the shipment was delivered to the fulfillment center, as shown by tracking. After 50 days the window closes. The shipment does not have to be closed before you file, so check receiving counts as soon as the 10 day wait ends.

What documents does Walmart need for a WFS shortage claim?

For parcel shipments with a non-Walmart carrier, Walmart needs proof of delivery showing the fulfillment center address. For LTL or FTL, it needs signed BOLs with shipment IDs, the destination, freight terms, ship-from address, ship date, carrier and case count, in English. Walmart does not accept pro forma invoices or quotes.

Can I appeal a WFS investigation decision?

No. Walmart states that it makes the final determination on WFS inbound investigations at its sole discretion and accepts no appeals. That makes the first filing the only one that counts. Every document should be complete and every count should tie out before you submit, because there is no second try.

    Who pays for WFS returns?

Walmart pays return processing costs for returns marked Walmart fault, such as damaged or lost in transit, late to arrive, incorrect item received or lost after delivery. Sellers pay for seller fault and customer fault returns, such as wrong size, defective, not as described or changed mind. Check every return’s fault code on your reports.

How long do I have to dispute a WFS return?

Walmart requires WFS return disputes within 45 days of the dispute window opening. The window opens at different times by reason, for example 90 days after a return starts if it was never processed or reimbursed, or on the delivery date if you received the wrong or damaged item. Track each window by order.

What evidence does Walmart need for a WFS return dispute?

A WFS return dispute needs clear photos of the package with its tracking label, the item showing the order ID and UPC sticker and, for wrong items, every item received and all pages of the pack list. Files must be 5MB or smaller. Walmart closes the dispute after three attempts to get missing information.

How do I open a WFS return reimbursement dispute?

WFS return reimbursement disputes are opened by contacting Walmart Seller Support to create a case. You can open only one case per order, so put every issue and every document for that order into the same case. Seller Support checks the details and decides whether a full or partial reimbursement is due.

Is it worth hiring a WFS reconciliation service?

A WFS reconciliation service is worth it when you ship enough through Walmart Fulfillment Services that inbound shortages and return gaps slip past the 50 day and 45 day windows. We match receipts to proof of delivery SKU by SKU each month and file only what the records support. Start with a free assessment of your WFS inventory.

How much does WFS reconciliation cost?

The cost of WFS reconciliation depends on your shipment volume, SKU count and how many gaps are still inside Walmart’s windows. We start with a free assessment, show you what looks claimable and then quote the work. The price follows how much there is to reconcile and how hard the gaps are to prove.

Can anyone guarantee Walmart will reimburse my WFS losses?

No. Walmart decides every WFS investigation and dispute, and it states that full or partial reimbursement is not guaranteed. Be careful with anyone who promises a payout. What we commit to is the work: every gap the records support filed once, inside its window, and a straight answer on what is worth filing before you pay.
